Love After Lockup fans are happy to hear there is no time lapse between their Felon Fridays this go-round. The WEtv spin-off series Love During Lockup season came to an end last week. During the finale, viewers were surprised to discover that a few previous cast members would return for Season 8.
Love During Lockup: Season 8 – Network Makes a Few Changes
The WEtv reality series Love After Lockup will air on September 15, 2023, at 9 p.m. During the new season, the network will consist of ten episodes, each lasting 90 minutes. The series will follow the lives of the seven couples, five of whom are returning favorites. Three couples from the previous season and two from Season 2 will return this season, as well as two new couples.
The network says this season’s stories are as interesting and dramatic as the past seasons. The couples soon learn that their lives are about to change drastically. They will have a lot to learn and adapt to. It is never an easy journey, as fans have discovered in the past seasons.
Meet the Couples of Season 8
Love During Lockup viewers will likely recall Season 2 couple Chelsea Gilliam and Michael Harmon. The Ohio couple first met on Facebook in an inmate pen pal group. Mike went above and beyond to learn to communicate with Chelsea once he knew she was deaf.
His commitment to their relationship melts her heart. They are trying to make a go of it. But Chelsea’s dad still has some doubts about the former inmate, and it causes some friction between them.
The next couple on the roster is tough to forget, or at least she is. Season 2 New Jersey pair Melissa Picariello and Louie Fojut are back to continue their love story. They first met in high school.
This is where Melissa developed a hardcore crush on the popular boy Louie. She says he didn’t know she existed back then. But twenty years later, she found Louie’s name on an inmate pen pal list and knew it was fate. Now, there is only one thing that stands in Melissa’s way. That is Louie’s mother, Donna.
Last Season Cast Members Return
The next three couples are fresh on the minds of Love During Lockup fans. Making the cross-over this season is the former cop Andy and his criminal girlfriend, Brittney. He is desperate to find true love.
He thinks he has found it with this Georgia inmate. However, children are unhappy about their dad’s new love interest. But Andy is sure she is the right woman for him. So sure that he is willing to choose her over his children.
Britney and Kerok met while they were both incarcerated, and Kerok was transitioning. She was released nine months ago and lives with Kerok’s family. There are a few issues with this situation. Britney’s family is unhappy with her current life choices. This is why she resides with Kerok’s family.
Another problem is that Kerok’s mom and brothers have not seen him since he transitioned. There are a lot of feelings and opinions that will make it hard for the love birds to focus on their relationship.
The final Love During Lockup couple from the previous season are Raneka Hayes and Asonta Gholston. This is an emotional story with a sad ending. Raneka moved her daughters to Georgia. She anticipated building a life with her inmate partner, Lacitrus Asonta Gholston. However, before the season finale of Love During Lockup, Asonta was killed in a car crash in Georgia. Raneka broke the news of Asonta’s death on her Facebook.
Fans are now curious about how the network will deal with the tragedy. The circ*mstances are different now. So, hopefully, the network will find a way to tell Asonta’s final story respectfully.
Love After Lockup’s New Kids on the Block
The two newest couples to join the WEtv Love After Lockup family include New York pair Sharae and Anthony. They met as teenagers but broke up after he cheated on her. The high school lovebirds reconnected several years later. They planned a prison wedding. But Sharae learns that Anthony has a secret he needs to tell her. His big secret is that he is already married.
Their story takes an interesting turn. She forgives him. They decide to lie to their families and tell them they are married. It is a lot of stress. Sharae will also have to compete with Anthony’s mother for her fake husband’s attention.
The final couple are Joynomi and Redd from New Mexico. They are this season’s pair who have yet to meet in person. Despite never meeting face-to-face, this couple has a lot of drama to unpack. It seems that Joynomi has been unfaithful to Redd.
As a result, she became pregnant with the other man’s baby. But he is willing to overlook it for now. So, things are awkward from the start for them. It will be hard to work past these issues.
This season’s cast lineup and bios prove to viewers the network is serious. They plan to keep their word and deliver the drama that their followers have grown to expect. Don’t forget to tune in to WEtv on Friday, September 15, for Season 8 of Love After Lockup.
