Be Wary.

Slow and steady has never been more terrifying or barbaric. Though the storyline, cinematography, and setting fit together oddly well in a haunting, desolate sort of way, the absolute violence is difficult to stomach. This has to be the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. There's no comparison of this film to ones like "Saw," as said horrifics are presented is oh-so-different ways. It's best that you watch this when you're close to adulthood, if at all.

Slow, shockingly gory western horror effortlessly blends genres

Bone Tomahawk is a 2015 western, adventure, drama and horror film. Somehow the film pulls off the impossible by blending these genres together effortlessly, which is evident in the film and a prevalent reason for why I enjoyed it so much. For reference, I would compare this film to 'Ready or Not' in how it blends genres together to create a greatly enjoyable and fascinating movie. I would like to notify you that this film is a slow burn, and could cause some of its viewers to lose interest before it has the time to build up. This is why I would strongly encourage you to finish the film as you will definitely not regret it. With this recommendation, however, I would like to warn you that this movie is CERTAINLY not for the faint-hearted. This is due to a brutal scene that is so shockingly gory that I am incredibly surprised that it is allowed on Netlflix. Additionally, this scene is enough to make the film inappropriate to watch from any site. This is shown through the fact that the film is unrated. In case you are wondering why, it is because the director knew that the film would have been rated NC-17 so he didn't bother getting it rated. It is not hard to see why this would have happened. While this film is not as grown up as one such as 'Requiem for a Dream' it is way more violent and is the highest 17+ I have given. I would even go as far as to say that it is more grown-up than 'Midsommar' and 'Suspiria', which I have also done reviews for. You'll get to see why in my content review. Now that I'm done with my movie review, I'll move on to my content review. For content I would give this movie:6/10 Sex - A single sex scene that is rather unnecessary in my opinion.7/10 Nudity - Various male buttocks are seen as well as bare breasts. There are also possible glimpses of frontal male nudity although I didn't notice anything when I watched the film. 10/10 Violence - The violence in this film is spaced out and if I were to rate the frequency of the violence it would get a 6/10. The reason it gets a 10 is due to the gore. Throughout the film, a man's hand is cut off with the bloody stump being in view for a while, a man cuts into another's throat and fishes out an instrument, a man is decapitated, people are disembowelled, men have their throats slit, a rock is thrown at a man's head, a man is shot with an arrow, a man is shot in the leg, a bullet is surgically removed, a man is shot, a man is choked, a man's stomach is slashed with a burning bottle being shoved into his wound, more people are shot with arrows and more people are shot. Then there are the two most disturbing scenes in the film. SPOILER, the first one is a scene where multiple women are seen with their limbs cut off and posts inserted into their eyes. This scene is extremely disturbing. The other scene consists of a man stripped naked then scalped. His scalp is then pegged to the back of his mouth with a stake. He is then moved, and then has his genitals hacked at by a bone tomahawk. After a couple of blows, two tribal men grab his legs and split him in half by pulling his legs apart. His intestines spill out everywhere, and he screams in agony throughout the whole process. This sequence is incredibly hard to watch and is unbelievably disturbing. These two scenes occur in close proximity, and together are the most disturbing things I have ever seen, not only in film but in general. This is why this film is my highest 17+ and would undoubtedly be rated NC-17. 4/10 Language - Hell, goddamn and sh*t are spoken are spoken a few times. 10/10 Themes - Incredibly disturbing and hard to watch.4.5/10 drugs - Occasional smoking and drinking, and a man takes medicine somewhat frequently as he has a nasty wound on his leg. In summary, this film is very good, despite being a slow burn, and is rewarding to anyone who can get through its graphic violence. I would also like to warn you again that while this film starts off tame and remains this way for a while, it builds up into something incredibly violent in its climax. Therefore I would strongly recommend this film, but only to audiences aged 17 or over.

Gory western horror movie

I thought this movie was very creative and original. The problem I had with this movie was that the pacing was bad. It was very slow and it dragged a lot of times. But in defense it was the directors debut movie. There is a sex scene in the beginning btw. And also a guy a split apart. This movie needs more recognition. Overall I thought it was good and I recommend this movie.

Gory.

This film is a interesting western. Its weird though. Its like a low end Quentin Tarantino combined with some Eli Roth. There's some torture but its not too bad or explicit. I would slightly recommended. If you want same weird combo gorno western.

Very good, but EXTREMELY disturbing!!

SPOILERS!!;)I am a person who can get through the guts and gruel usually, but oh my god. From the "eiree screaming" to the scalping a man, making him eat has newly dismembered scalp, then holding him upside down and splitting him him in half after several blows with a knife, then finally EATING him, it's enough to make me feel a bit sick, or at least, disturbed. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!! I don't think it's inappropriate, however. There is a sex scene, but that is mild. A man is almost shot in the testicl*s, and, oh, I forgot about the decapitation by tomahawk. And the metal flask that was sitting in the fire being stuck inside a mans chest cavity. It's gruesome, and very much so. Definitely not for a lot of people, but very good for those who can watch it. A pregnant woman is shown, but with her limbs haven been cut off and wooden stakes through her eyes. Just be careful, it's not meant for children, and not even meant for some adults.
