Although there may not be any boards under your feet, this is still one of the more popular walking routes in Savannah. Take a stroll with your loved ones and observe the Savannah riverfront in all its glory. Hint: Walking this riverfront boardwalk at night is even better!

Glory Beach is one of the more popular areas of Jekyll Island. Access to this beach is by way of a long boardwalk, which was originally built by the producers of the 1989 civil war drama "Glory." (See? You learn something new everyday.)

The South Peachtree Creek Trail is one of the newer boardwalks, which wanders through Mason Mill Park along the banks of creek. It also connects the two parks, Mason Mill and Medlock Park.

The Suwanee Creek Greenway is around 4 miles of pure enjoyment, through forest and wetlands. Although the entire greenway isn't necessarily in boardwalk fashion, some of the most beautiful spots across the marshes are indeed.

Some of the best parts of Tybee Island are free. You can wander along the various boardwalks at your own leisure, listening to the water lap the shore, or catch a sunset that will make your summer truly memorable.

The Klondike Boardwalk Trail stretches only a half mile, and it borders the very busy Klondike Road. However, you can catch some sensational views of Arabia Mountain. This boardwalk also connects several hiking trails throughout the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.

The Georgia Coast Rail-Trail follows along an abandoned rail corridor through marshes, forest, and across rivers and creeks. The plan for the corridor was to be a multi-use trail for walkers, cyclists, joggers, and the like. It's quite a long trek, as the original trail tapped out at 68 miles.

There are quite a few places on the Georgia coast where you can stroll along through the marsh, taking in the sights and scenery. What's envisioned with this 155-mile trek is to connect South Carolina to Florida through Georgia's six coastal counties.
